The adventures continue, and not that much has changed! But in the premiere of this new season of Sunday Henshin Time, we are making some format changes in which we are only covering one show at a time. But the show is more of the Defending Champions in Futari wa Pretty Cure MAX HEART! We rejoin Nagisa and Honoka as they end up accidentally adopting a mysterious kohai named Hikari, who may be the re-incarnation of the Queen of Light. She now joins the warriors against new threats of the Dark Zone, and with it new problems to navigate. I can't believe we are here once again, and we are here for it. I don't know if you've noticed, but you lose every fight, usually in embarrassing fashion. You're doing level 1 card tricks to an audience of nobody. Your outfit makes it look like it was a really bad breakup. And the only people who will hang out with you either do it because they're worried about you, or because they're making fun of you and you don't seem to notice.

MOTHER UNIVERSE - Swan's Image Song

I know vastly more about lacrosse now, thanks to these episodes of Pretty Cure. No, not because of what's IN the episodes, but because I paused mid-episode to read a bunch, and then that knowledge proved to be irrelevant to the episode. This was a predictable outcome. The Dekarangers debut SWAT Mode, and we're sadly a bit underwhelmed. And Kamen Rider Blade continues to turn up the heat, with the plot getting almost as intense as Tachibana is stupid.

The frequency of all three of our shows turning in good work is going up, as PreCure starts working in the new paradigm of the littlest Prince of Light and their new foes, while the Dekas have double trouble with princesses and mob bosses as they work for their next upgrades. Oh boy. Well, Futari wa Pretty Cure is back in full voice. What a mixed bag of episodes. Pretty Cure is stumbling and stumbling hard towards it's strange mid-series ending, the shifting of roles in DekaRanger, and... ok we gotta talk about the motorcycle thing. Kamen Rider Blade is a roller coaster of contrasts. We really got taken for a ride this week.

Ah, the dog days of Pretty Cure are upon us. Or maybe just "day" singular, unless we get ANOTHER episode at some point where there are dogs voiced in Japanese, which feels unlikely. Wait, wait, wasn't last year's PreCure about like your pet becoming a Cure alongside you? Dang. Well, someday we'll get there I think. You ever go running? It's good for your body but I understand why most people don't find it great. Most people just sorta wanna zone out on a treadmill and watch a show or whatever, and that's valid! I just like my little runs outside. Ban isn't hot on the prospect though because he has to disarm PLANET DESTROYING BOMBS all over town! In boots! I'd be sick of running too. There is a lot to like this week as we say goodbye to a really stellar villain and met some new ones! And maybe Tomakazu Seki shows up in strange places. Weird but fun set of episodes this week.

ACAB includes... retail managers? That's the theory in this week's Kamen Rider Blade episodes, where it supposes that a job at a supermarket entails chasing and tackling perps. Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger takes an uncomfortable angle on Chinese culture, then pivots into Japanese patriotism that may or not be innocent, but it's hard to shake the 2025 connotations of such things. Futari wa Pretty Cure? Poisony shows off a power so staggering that it's hard to imagine how she didn't wrap this thing up weeks ago. We're not CinemaSins-ing, it's just kinda amazing to see. As is the animation, hot damn.

Boy, this episode really surprised us. Pretty Cure managed to stumble and DekaRanger has some stuff, but Blade really took us somewhere we didn't expect. These episodes gave us plenty to talk about, so long as our heroes can keep it together.

It's the thing in fantasy where like... a male orc is this massive guy with tusks and a craggy face and such, and then female orcs are human-sized hourglass-figured folks that basically look like "what if a sexy lady had green skin." It's that kinda thing.

Anyway, this week on Sunday Henshin Time, Mepple gets held hostage by the vice principal, Honoka gets held hostage by jewelry thieves, the jewelry thieves get held hostage by Gekidrago, and Gekidrago is held hostage by a job that doesn't value him. Banban falls in love with a stakeout target, and Kamen Rider Garren becomes scotch whiskey. You'll never guess which one wins the week!

Here comes a new story. Or three, to be more precise. With our Journey to the Worst in the bag, Kyrie and I leave Dragon Ball behind for the moment, and head to new territory. But what could we possibly cover where we'd have that same magic combination of undercovered work that we can act as experts about, and that we're very passionate about? It's a short list, I think. But you know? Pretty Cure, Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider? Yeah, I think that makes the cut.
