The title up there is self-descriptive, but… hey gang. It’s Six. Y’all probably saw my last announcement, and its discussion of the Internet Archive’s troubles. It’s taking them longer than I thought to restore things, given how they were discussing their progress. This is not a criticism: it’s a massive undertaking, and probably I underestimated it. But this is as long as I’m willing to leave y’all podless. It stresses me out just sitting here waiting to be able to publish again.
So, until the Internet Archive is functional enough for us to use it as hosting again, I’ll be putting new releases up for free on Patreon. That of course means you don’t need to be a patron to listen to them, though I don’t know if there’s a way to get an RSS for free? I hope so. Let me know if there is.
This is an imperfect solution. Here are the downsides:
- No Categorization: You’re just gonna be getting everything. Obviously, don’t listen to what you don’t wanna listen to, but there aren’t multiple patron RSS feeds, so it’s just gonna be every pod.
- No Backlog: It would be unbelievably impractical to upload all the podcast episodes that we have already hosted on the IA. We’re talking over a thousand, I’m pretty sure. I’m not doin that. So, you can only listen to new stuff til it’s fixed, with my apologies.
- Temporary: As soon as the IA is working again, I’ll post everything properly on scanlinemedia.com, and delete the posts here.
Anyway. That’s what I’ve come up with. Prepare yourself for a few posts to hit in succession here. And hey, thanks for reading! For you site folks who have maybe never gone there, or just it’s been a while, the Patreon is patreon.com/scanlinemedia.
